Road Trip to Queenstown

Itinerary will be posted August 22nd.

We're planning a road trip to Queenstown and would love for you to join, whether for all or just part of it! We'll tailor the plan based on everyone's interests, so if you'd like to join or have activities in mind, let us know in your RSVP or reach out to us.

Getting to Waiheke Island

Getting to NZ

You’ll need to book round-trip flights to Auckland Airport (AKL), located on Ray Emery Drive in Māngere, Auckland.

→ Auckland Airport on Google Maps

If you're travelling from overseas, especially the U.S., please note that New Zealand is nearly a full day ahead. Be sure to double-check your arrival date and time when booking. Flights often arrive 1–2 days after departure, which may be marked as +1 or +2 in your itinerary.

We recommend flying with Air New Zealand. They are consistently rated the safest airline, with comfortable planes, excellent seats and meals, and an optional Skycouch upgrade ideal for long flights.

Getting Downtown

There is a regular bus that drives into the city and taxis that sit outside the airport, however we recommend getting an uber from the airport to Auckland due to price transparency. We've had taxi's cost twice as much as uber!

If you're interested in picking up a rental car, here are some Joy rental car discounts:

→ Hertz Rental Car
→Thrifty Rental Car
→ Dollar Rental Car

Getting to Waiheke Island

There are two ferries that can take you to Waiheke. Fullers360 is passenger only, and Sealink takes both vehicles and passengers. Both ferries take about 45–60 minutes.

→ Fullers (Passenger Only)
→ Sealink (Vehicles + Passengers)

If you plan to travel to Waiheke the day of the wedding, the ceremony starts at 4:00PM so we would recommend arriving no later than by 3:30 PM.

If you are not staying the night on Waiheke Island the latest departures from Waiheke to Auckland are:

Fullers360: 12:30 AM
Sealink: 7:00 PM

Getting to the Wedding Venue

We’ll be providing shuttle transport from either your accommodation or the Waiheke ferry terminal. If you’d prefer not to take the shuttle, taxis are available on the island, just note that Uber is not available.

If you plan to take the shuttle, please let us know your ferry arrival and departure times, along with where you're staying, so we can include your stop in the route.

Top NZ Experiences

Top Experiences

These are just some experiences you could look into for your New Zealand trip.

Just outside of MataMata, the movie set of the Lord of the Rings is seriously awesome. We highly recommend you stop by and do a tour.

An ancient subterranean world in the heart of New Zealand’s central North Island, the Waitomo Cave system is a series of fascinating and dramatic natural wonders.

World renowned and one of NZ's great walks, if you can fit it in, you will certainly be taken away by this walk. It's incredible to do and gives a real sense of achievement at the end of the day.

Located in Wellington, it feels like you're a world away, from native parrots the Kaka to living dinosaurs, the Tuatara, this place is incredible to walk around.

One of the most spectacular places on earth. You will feel as if you have been transported back in time here, with huge waterfalls and towering mountains.

The Dark Sky region is one of the best places in the world to see the night sky with the least amount of light polution. Located around Tekapo.

Your presence is the greatest gift, and we feel so lucky to celebrate with you. For those who would like to give something, we put together a few meaningful ideas to support this next chapter. After three years of living between countries and mostly out of suitcases, we're now excited to settle down, find a place to call home, and start filling it with the things we love, hopefully including a puppy.
